Aharon Messeg was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1942.

He immigrated with his family to Israel in 1951 and started painting as a young boy.

He married the poet Sabina Messeg whose family migrated from Bulgaria with 2 adult daughters and a son.

Messeg has had a long association with the alternative settlement of Clil where he has lived permanently since 1995.

One of Israel’s leading painters who works with oils and watercolors, arriving at images which are a fusion of elements of inner and outer landscape.

He first exhibited in1967 and since then has had many one-man shows, both in Israel and abroad.
