The Artist:
Ben Avram
Ben Avram was born in Bombay, India in 1937. He immigrated to Israel in 1956 where he pursued his studies at the Bezalel Art School from where he graduated in 1965. Ben Avram is a Jerusalem artist whose work is infused with the distinctive atmosphere of this unique city. He depicts a variety of local and biblical characters, not as a stranger looking for the exotic, but as an artist who lives and breathes Jerusalem the Holy City. His characters are a harmonious part of their environment, an extension of religious customs and Biblical figures. Ben Avram’s works are the fruitful climax of 35 years of painting. His works are included in important collections in the United States, Canada, Israel, Panama, Mexico, Brazil, France, England, Switzerland, and Germany.
